Apple launched iPhone 8, coming soon in India.

Apple launched iPhone 8 along with iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X. The iPhone 8 is a 4.7 inch smartphone just like last year's iPhone 7 but there are some incremental improvements. The new iPhone 8 is covered by glass instead of metal. The phone is water and dust proof and does support wireless charging.

Apple iPhone 8 design and display

The iPhone 8 has the same design like iPhone 7. The body material on iPhone 8 is made by stainless steel and glass combination. The glass is scratch resistant. Apple iPhone 8 is 7.3 mm thick and weighs 147g. The iPhone 8 bears a 4.7 inch LED-backlit IPS LCD display with Retina HD 750 x 1334 resolution. The display is scratch resistant.

The iPhone 8 is powered by 2.4 GHz 64-bit Hexa Core Apple A11 Bionic processor built on 10 nm architecture which is 25 percent faster and 70 percent power efficient as compared to previous Apple A10 Fusion processor. The GPU is also made by Apple which is also 30 percent faster as claimed by Apple. The GPU has 3 cores. There is a 2 GB LPDDR4 RAM present on the device whereas both the iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X have 3 GB of RAM. Native storage is of 64/256 GB which is not expandable. The new Bionic Hexacore processor from Apple powers the iPhone X and iPhone 8 Plus also.

The new iPhone 8 is running on latest iOS 11. It doesn't have any 3.5 mm audio jack. There are dual stereo speakers with Dolby Digital Plus for better audio output. The fingerprint sensor is embedded under the home button.

The iPhone 8 sports a single 12 MP Sony camera unlike the dual rear camera found on iPhone 8 Plus, iPhone X and Samsung Galaxy Note 8. The iPhone 8 has one 12 MP regular Sony sensor with f/1.8 aperture and true depth technology for better bokeh effect in portrait mode. The rear camera supports Optical Image Stabilization. Optical Zoom is also available up to 2x. Front camera is of 7.16 MP with auto focus feature.

Apple has launched the iPhone 8 in 2 variants.

1. 3 GB RAM + 64 GB Storage.
2. 3 GB RAM + 256 GB Storage.

The iPhone 8 will be available in space gray, silver and gold color options. The base 64 GB variant of iPhone 8 has been priced at $699 and the 256 GB variant of iPhone 8 has been priced at $849 in US. In India the starting price price of iPhone 8 is Rupees 64,000 for the base 64 GB variant and Rupees 77,000 for the 256 GB variant of iPhone 8. The iPhone 8 will be launched in India on September 29.
