Vivo Y53 @ INR 9,990($153) - A smartphone or smart-joke?

Chinese smartphone vendor Vivo will launch Vivo Y53 a smart-joke smartphone soon. Price of Vivo Y53 is $154 or INR 9,990 approximately.

Now lets discuss why I called it smart-joke instead of smartphone. So have a look into the in-depth specifications.

Vivo Y53 @ INR 9,990($153) - A smartphone or smart-joke?

Recently launched Vivo Y53 bears a 5" IPS LCD with 540 X 960 resolution. Yes! You have read right, in 2017 a $153 smartphone bears a display with qHD resolution. This is nothing but a joke infact a smart-joke. We can find a lot of smartphones with HD display under $110 from reputed brands like Samsung, Motorola etc. Vivo Y53 covered with metal body having a thickness of 7.64 mm and weighs 136 g. It is a dual SIM smartphone with 4G, VoLTE support and has connnectivity options like Bluetooth 4,2, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, WiFi hotspot, FM Radio, USB OTG and 3.5 mm audio jack. There is a secondary mic for active noise cancellation. This device is powered by 64 bit 1.4 GHz quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 CPU along with 500 MHz Adreno GPU backed by 2GB of LPDDR3 667 MHz Single Channel RAM. It has a native storage of 16GB which is expandable up to 256GB via dedicated mictoSD slot. This phone is sailing on Funtouch OS 3.0 based on Android Marshmallow 6.0.1. For optics there is 8MP Auto Focus camera with f/2.0 aperture accompanied by LED flash in rear and for selfies there is a 5MP Fixed Focus camera with f/2.2 aperture but there is no selfie flash. Camera performance may not be impressive specifically at this price point. Rear camera can record videos up to 1080P Full HD resolution @ 30 FPS  whereas front camera can record up to 720P HD @ 30 FPS. Sadly there is no gyroscope and fingerprint sensors but accelerometer, proximity and compass sensors are present. This smartphone is fuled by a 2500 mAh Li-Polymer non removable battery which may be sufficient for one day usage.

Vivo Y53 will be available in gold & gray colors.
Basically Vivo launches smartphones with very higher price tag. I can say that Vivo smartphones are for those who like to buy from offline market rather than online. Vivo smartphones have a premium design and look, good display protection, good selfie camera. But they basically use cheap Mideatek chipsets so the performance is average. Most of the Vivo smartphoes have average rear cameras and average battery backup. But the prices are always on the higher side as Vivo provides a huge margin to their offline distributors and they spend a lot of money on advertising.
